Most westerners think Laos first HSR happened because China wants to dominate Laos. Since the HSR passes through Laos so those employed in Chinese side are required to be fluent in Laos and vice versa. This promotes better understanding of each other.Prior to the Laos first HSR that span over 1,000km Laos had only 3.5km railway. Laos will benefit economically when any future trade between China and the RCEP countries passing Laos by trains. WOW! I didn't realize it is better to transport goods by train than sea. Of course it is better for passengers. Bravo to the dogged determination to cut the tunnel! I love that the young people of both Laos & China are finding rewarding, fulfilling direction in their lives.
