@mrwayne5158 Poor planning is what it is, that's why you don't do a blanket tariff right off the bat. Would have been more sane to aim for targeted tariffs on items that you already have a backup plan for. But thinking one step ahead isn't that man's strong suit

Thing that gets me is those areas where the US excels, innovation, scientific research, software and services all require skilled workers yet the main moves of the MAGA administration is to destroy education systems and create barriers for these segments. Manufacturing jobs, especially for low cost products don’t pay well and while the barrier to entry into such jobs is low they won’t help you get ahead much in today’s economy, especially at minimum wage levels. The whole strategy seems ass-backwards.. The other thing to be aware of is that if Trump is losing ground here, he’s going to pivot and lash out somewhere else to try and change the new cycle narrative. He hasn’t picked on Ukraine for a while so watch out for that.

As happy as I am to have a huge chunk of the tariffs paused, I maintain (as I think I've strongly hinted at before) we still need changes in the system to guarantee future stability on this front, US trade policy should not be at the mercy of the whims of any president, let alone this particular one.
