对于伯恩斯这番发言，美国全国广播公司（NBC）在制作视频片段时也“不嫌事大”，将标题写为“伯恩斯大使说，中国须承认美国是领导者”。而在这段视频下方的评论区，许多网民也对美国在国际社会究竟是何角色，是否真的是“领导者”议论纷纷，满是嘲讽。
